Install on the right computer
Install Keepto on your computer — the one you want ChatGPT to help you work on. If you'll use it at home, at the office, or on several computers, first check how many computers your plan includes.
- Download and install Keepto
- Complete the basic setup
- Enter your activation code or complete trial activation
Choose the scope you're willing to share
Only add the folders the work needs — don't open up the whole computer at the start. For your first test, pick a folder with simple contents and no sensitive data.
- Add the allowed folders
- Set them to read-only first
- Keep sensitive files outside the scope
Add Keepto in ChatGPT
Follow the connection guide Keepto provides to add and approve Keepto in your own ChatGPT account.
Complete the connection and check the status
Go back to Keepto and confirm the connection is complete. The connection address stays fixed — no re-setup after a reboot.
- Confirm the computer shows as connected in Keepto
- Confirm ChatGPT can see Keepto
- If it drops, first check whether the computer is on and the network is working
Do a small read-only task first
Don't rush to modify files in your first task. First confirm Keepto reads the right folder and its answers match the content; then decide whether to open up editing.
Your first message can look like this
Please only read the folders I've allowed, and don't modify any files.
First explain this project's structure, what the main files are for, and which three places you'd suggest I look at first.Once read-only checks out, try these three kinds of tasks
Start low-risk, and gradually point Keepto at work that truly saves time.
Understand the project first
Start read-only: read the text, images, videos, projects and notes you allow, and understand the content and how it relates — without touching any files.
Produce results directly
Create and edit documents, code and reports, and organize and convert images and videos — turn ideas straight into visible results.
Run and verify
Run work and tests and work with Git in the projects you trust, and batch-process images and videos too.
